🎉 About our Sailboat’s name: Sanctuary

Sanctuary

Boat’s names typically display a sense of whimsy: “Liquid Asset, Miss Behaven, Naughty Girl, Shore thing, and Seas the Day–a play on words. For us, this sailboat is a sanctuary, In its original meaning, sanctuary is a sacred, holy place, “Spiritus Sanctus,” such as a shrine, protected by immunity. By extension, the term has come to be used for any place of safety, respite, and peace.

A World Away

The Bay and this sailing vessel affords us a world away to the calm waters, the open air, and light winds for relaxation, and the exhilaration of being in nature amongst the wildfowl and sea creatures of the Chesapeake. Our heads are always in the clouds, watching the wind speed, temperature, following the tides and currents.

We hope to educate, tour, tell stories and have a lot of fun doing it.
